Sánchez sees the apology from the president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation for the controversial kiss to the player Jennifer Hermoso at the Women’s Soccer World Cup as insufficient.
The acting President of the Government of Spain sees the apology of the President of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, Luis Rubiales, insufficient for the controversial kiss to the player Jennifer Hermoso during the celebration of the World Cup. Pedro Sánchez believes that Rubiales has to go further.
“What we saw was an unacceptable gesture, but Mr. Rubiales’ apologies are also not enough and are not even adequate and therefore he has to continue taking steps to clarify what we all saw in the media,” the president highlighted. Sanchez.
Pedro Sánchez has clarified that the Government does not have the power to decide on the future of Luis Rubiales in the Royal Spanish Football Federation since the organization is not included within the Government structures and the president is elected and dismissed by the associates of the federation.
Sánchez pointed out that the gesture shows that much remains to be done in terms of equality.
