The representatives of seven political groups with representation in Congress will go to the Palacio de La Zarzuela on Monday and Tuesday to participate in the round of consultations with the King provided for in article 99 of the Constitution: they will be UPN, Coalición Canaria, PNV, Sumar , Vox, PSOE and PP, according to parliamentary sources. Four political groups have declined to participate in the consultations with Felipe VI: ERC, Junts, Bildu and BNG. Sumar will send a single representative, the acting second vice president Yolanda Díaz, contrary to what United Podemos did in 2019, when representatives of several of the political forces that made up the coalition attended.

The groups will be called from lowest to highest, so the last one will be the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, already on Tuesday. That same day, once the consultations are over, the King will once again summon the president of Congress, Francina Armengol, to communicate his proposal for a candidate for investiture, if there is one, since the King could wait a while. or hold a new round if it concludes that none of the applicants has a chance of success. In the event that he makes a proposal, this will be formalized in a written communication that must be signed by the president of the Cortes.

The new president of the Senate, Pedro Rollán (PP), has stated that the chances that Feijóo can be sworn in “remain intact” because no formation has explicitly stated the withdrawal of its support.
