The controversy and chaos over the awarding of more than 20,000 places for Valencian teachers had a new episode on Thursday night. As the Minister of Education, José Antonio Rovira, had promised, before the end of the day, around nine at night, the destinations of nearly 7,000 primary school teachers were published. However, the listings had to be withdrawn just an hour later, after detecting new errors, as happened on the 10th, when the publication of the more than 20,000 places was plagued with errors.
Education sources have assured that the errors, which affect a small group of teachers of Hearing and Language and Therapeutic Pedagogy of students with special needs, will be rectified and this Friday the award will be published again, for the third time.
The Minister of Education promised this Thursday to the publication of the rectified lists and maintained that the intention of his department was that the Secondary ones be disseminated this Friday or, at the latest, on Monday, just 15 days before the start of the school year. José Antonio Rovira explained his commitment after attending a group of people, including union representatives, who have gathered in front of the Ministry’s headquarters. The head of Education pointed out that the administration is working so that the resolution with the destinations is published “as soon as possible.” In addition, he explained that in computer processes with so many involved “we prefer to do a review.”
The adjudication of the places for interim and civil servants of primary, secondary, FP, language schools and adult schools was published on August 10 with countless errors. The Ministry decided on Monday to publish a new resolution with the rectifications that, for the moment, have not been achieved. The controversy has unleashed a political scuffle and while the Government of PP and Vox accuse the Socialists and Compromís of not preparing the computer platform that allocates places, the Botànic parties, which have governed the Generalitat Valenciana for eight years they consider that the errors are due to the “insolvency” and “ineffectiveness” of the team led by the president of the PP, Carlos Mazón, and to the non-appearance of high education officials this summer.
