On September 19, 2023, c’t will host another webinar on the practical use of generative AI tools from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. It’s an updated and expanded version of the four webinars that took place in the spring that sold out quickly. In addition to ChatGPT and other generative text tools, Midjourney and other AI image generators as well as the influence of generative AI on work and the economy in general will be discussed.

More than 100 million people are already using the AI voice bot ChatGPT. And with image generators like Midjourney, anyone can create impressive graphics and images on demand that can no longer be distinguished from real photos. However, critics warn of the flaws of the chatbot and other language models and of data protection and other problems when using generative AI applications in general.
But what does the wave of these new AI services mean for you in concrete terms? The c’t webinar will help you understand the technology and assess its impact on your work, your industry and your company.
Functionality, ecosystem, alternatives and legal implications
With many practical examples, c’t editors Jo Bager and Hartmut Gieselmann give a detailed introduction to how ChatGPT and other text AIs work, as well as their capabilities and limitations: How do you integrate them as co-pilots into your daily work? How do companies train an individual language application with their own texts? What about the factual fidelity, how can the information from ChatGPT & Co. be checked and improved?
The editors provide tips on how teachers can integrate the language models into their lessons and run open-source alternatives to ChatGPT locally on their computers. They also present AI tools that improve texts and help with scientific research.

But it should not only be about language bots, but also about image generators and other generative AI services. Joerg Heidrich, General Counsel at Heise Medien, shows the impressive images that can be created with Midjourney. He explains the problems associated with the use of generative AI, such as copyright or data protection.
Companies must prepare for the use of AI and establish guidelines for dealing with AI and their employees. Last but not least, AI will also bring about changes in the labor market. Heidrich makes an initial prognosis as to which occupational fields are particularly affected by AI.
In the three-hour webinar, the speakers will show many practical examples and applications. At the same time there is space for your questions.
