Today, practically every hardware store has inflatable hot tubs on offer. For a few hundred euros you can bring pleasure and relaxation into your home, which you usually only know from vacation. The technology has matured quite a bit over the years. It can be set up without any special prior knowledge.
After purchasing his hot tub, our author worked his way through the WiFi-remote-for-Bestway-Lay-Z-SPA project and introduces you to this project and his experiences with it. This allows whirlpools from the manufacturer Bestway to be expanded with WiFi control and Alexa integration.
This hack is made possible by an ESP controller that is built into the spa’s standard electronics. The ESP controller establishes a connection between WiFi and the spa’s electronics. It logs into the WLAN and provides a web interface. All functions that can be operated or read on the keyboard and on the display of the device can then be called up remotely via a website. There are also some other functions such as a counter for statistics, markers for chlorine and filter change and an MQTT connection.
