There is currently a larger, global wave of attacks on LinkedIn accounts, as reported by the IT security platform Cyberint, among others. According to this, various accounts have already been compromised. Some of the victims were even asked to pay a ransom for their account. In case of non-payment, the account was permanently deleted.

Many LinkedIn users complain on other social networks like X that their account has been stolen. In addition, the company is currently slow to respond to support requests, as can be seen from various posts.
LinkedIn describes the procedure in the event of a compromised account in instructions. Among other things, it is recommended to change the password and activate two-factor authentication (2FA) – for example via SMS or an authenticator app.
If this is no longer possible, affected users can send the company their e-mail address, as can be seen from an X post by LinkedIn itself.
Protect accounts with 2FA
In this context, the Federal Office for Information Security again advises on LinkedIn to activate 2FA in online and social media profiles and to protect accounts with a secure password.
Attackers are always trying to compromise accounts in order to obtain sensitive information. Only recently there was another wave of attacks on DocMorris. There, cybercriminals managed to place orders using the accounts of fraud victims. In addition to online shops and social platforms, banks are also a popular target for fraudulent attempts.
