The Emergency Operations Center reported that the bodies of the number of people reported missing have already been found, and the identification work is underway.
At least 59 people were injured, nine businesses were affected and another four were totally destroyed.
The president, who toured the area affected by the incident and participated in a mass celebrated in San Cristóbal in memory of the fatalities and for the speedy recovery of the injured, and ordered that this Thursday, August 17, be a day of national mourning because of the tragedy.
More than 30 ambulances and some 500 rescue teams and officials responded to the incident.
The health authorities urged the population to wear masks, due to the toxic smoke that arose at the site of the explosion.
