María Chivite will take office tomorrow as president of Navarra

The recently re-elected president of the Government of Navarra, María Chivite, will take office tomorrow, Thursday, the 17th, at 11:30 am in an act that will take place in the Atrium of the Foral Parliament. The next day, Friday, the 18th, the 13 councilors (8 socialists, 4 from Geroa Bai and one from Contigo-Zurekin) of the Executive will do so.

The act, convened by the president of the Parliament of Navarra by virtue of the provisions of article 25 of Ley Foral 14/2004, of December 3, of the Government of Navarra and its President, will be attended by the First Vice President, Nadia Calviño, and the Secretary of State for Territorial Policy and spokesperson for the Executive, Isabel Rodríguez, representing the Government of Spain.

The act of inauguration will begin at 11:30 am with the interpretation of the Navarre anthem by the Band of Trumpets and Timbales of the Government of Navarra. Next, the First Secretary and the Second Secretary of the Board of the Chamber, Yolanda Ibáñez (Spanish) and Mikel Zabaleta (Basque), will read the Royal Decree on the appointment of the President of the Foral Community of Navarra in Spanish and Basque, respectively. .

Next, Chivite will proceed with the promise of his position before the President of the Parliament, according to the following formula: “I promise to respect, maintain and improve the Foral Regime of Navarra, abide by the Constitution and the Laws and faithfully fulfill the obligations of my position of President of the Government of Navarre”.

After the promise, the president of the Parliament of Navarra, Unai Hualde Iglesias, the First Vice President of the Government of Spain, Nadia Calviño, and the president of the Foral Community, María Chivite, will speak in this order.

The musical accompaniment will be provided by the Orfeón Pamplonés, who will participate in this legislative opening with the interpretation of two pieces, the popular Navarra mía, by Raimundo Lanas, and Txoria txori, by Mikel Laboa.

The presence at the inauguration ceremony of Lehendakari Chivite, Iñigo Urkullu, as well as Emiliano García-Page, President of Castilla La Mancha, and the President of the Principality of Asturias, Adrián Barbón, have been confirmed.

In turn, the attendance of the first authorities of the Foral Community and representatives of all civic, social, economic, educational and cultural levels of Navarre society is expected.

Chivite has been re-elected president this Tuesday in a second vote held in the Parliament of Navarra after failing to achieve an absolute majority in the first, which took place this Monday. The simple majority that the support of PSN, Geroa Bai and Contigo-Zurekin have granted her, together with the abstention of EH Bildu, has made her president.

After a first vote in which the candidate did not achieve the confidence of the Chamber, this Tuesday, Chivite has achieved more support than votes against, so she will continue in the position of president.
