The widespread ESP32 controllers use CPU cores of the Xtensa LX6 chip type from Cadence. Since 2021, however, there has also been a series based on a RISC-V CPU with the C3 series. Adafruit now has a new development board for this.

Adafruit offers the new ESP32-C3-DevKit-RUST-1 development board. It is equipped with a 32-bit processor that works with a clock speed of 160 MHz. The board offers 384 KB ROM and 400 KB SRAM memory. Bluetooth 5 and Wi-Fi 4 (IEEE 802.11b/g/n) are supported.
22 GPIO pins are available for extensions. These offer, among other things, SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface), UART (Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter) and I2C and I2S support.
Currently there is no compatibility with CircuitPython. Only the Arduino IDE and ESP IDF can be used to populate the board.
Factory sensors
This particular dev board is equipped with a tilt and acceleration sensor as well as humidity and temperature sensors. A lithium-ion charging circuit is also integrated. The product is designed as an entry board for RUST development. The board is available from the Adafruit Shop for $19.95.
