Cimic, belonging to the Spanish group ACS, has been awarded through its subsidiary UGL a six-year contract worth around 500 million Australian dollars (300 million euros) to support the fuel network of the Ministry of Defense of Australia. Starting this month, UGL will provide strategic advisory, planning, supply management, operations and maintenance services for the Australian Defense Force’s fuel network nationwide, according to a statement released Tuesday by the company. The six-year contract has performance-based extension options through 2035.
The Australian subsidiary of ACS announced last Wednesday that its UGL brand has been awarded five contracts for the provision of construction services with energy and mining companies in Australia for around 600 million Australian dollars (370 million euros). One of the contracts awarded to UGL by Albermarle, a leading US company in the lithium and derivatives industry, includes the construction of two additional processing trains at the Kemerton lithium hydroxide plant.
This contract, which will help the Kemerton plant to increase its annual lithium production to around 100,000 metric tons, will bring in UGL’s coffers of 300 million Australian dollars (196.7 million US dollars or 179.3 million euros), according to a CIMIC statement collected by Efe.
UGL also announced that it has won four other contracts in the Western Australia region for a combined value of 300 million Australian dollars (180 million euros). With companies like Alcoa —leader in the production of bauxite and alumina— or the energy company Chevron, they range from the planning and provision of electrical services, instrumentation, access, insulation, among others, to the maintenance and conservation of resources and infrastructures, he added.
