The parties of the block of the left work with “discretion” to reach a progressive majority in the Table of the Congress. Junts will decide its position on Thursday morning, minutes before the constitutive session of the Cortes Generales.
With less than 48 hours left for the constitutive session of the Cortes Generales, the negotiations for the formation of the Congress Table continue.
The parties of the left bloc work with “discretion”, after ruling out the Canarian Coalition’s proposal to elevate a PNV deputy to the Presidency. The PSOE spokesperson, Pilar Alegría, has defended in the last few hours that the Congress Table should reflect the “mostly progressive” result of the elections on July 23 and has appealed for “prudence and dialogue.”
This Tuesday, in an interview given to Radio Euskadi, the elected deputy Enrique Santiago (Sumar) has defended the presence of nationalist forces in the Congress Table. In any case, he believes that the presidency should correspond to the PSOE as the party with the most representation “among all the progressive and democratic forces.”
In relation to the negotiations with Junts to support the formation of a progressive government, Santiago has assured that a possible amnesty is not being negotiated as proposed by the Puigdemont formation.
The constitutive session of the Cortes Generales will begin at 10:00 am on Thursday in the Congress of Deputies. Two hours before, at 08:00, the Junts meeting will be held to decide its position on the composition of the Board.
