The legendary journalist and television presenter Mercedes Milá has shared through her Instagram account a story that “could have ended in tragedy” when her boat ran out of gasoline in the waters of Menorca.
The Catalan went sailing last Sunday with her niece and her dog Scott to enjoy their vacation on the Balearic island. But according to Milá, her plans immediately went wrong due to a miscalculation. The ship ran out of fuel and was adrift in the middle of the sea, near the mouth of the port of Mahón, with a significant risk of hitting the rocks.
In fact, as can be seen in the images posted on Instagram, Mercedes Milá’s boat was very close to the coast, with a significant risk of colliding to the point of having a gaff pole ready to separate the boat from the rocks. A situation that they faced “relaxed and without losing their cool.”
However, the journalist attributes what happened to the fact that the Mahón gas station had run out of fuel that day, so she was unable to refuel before sailing. In fact, Milá has lamented through his social networks the “lack of solidarity” of the Mahón sailors, who has branded them as “stubborn” for not carrying out the relevant rescue work. A situation that she herself has called “awesome”.
Despite this, the incident has had a happy ending and it was not major. As the television presenter recounts on Instagram, her friend Dr. Javier Herrero finally came to her rescue, her niece Ana and her dog. With her boat, Mercedes Milá’s friend was able to take them back home thanks to her quick action. “Luckily it has only been one more adventure” has assured the historic Catalan journalist.
