“It is clear that this is a decision by the authorities currently in power in Pristina to put pressure on the company’s most important investment in the territory owned by the State of Serbia,” comments Vladimir Lucic, CEO of Telekom Serbia.
Pristina claims to uphold the rule of law with initiatives to combat corruption. A Kosovar government spokesman, contacted by Euronews, said that “no matter how noble a company’s cause may be, it is subject to laws that it must comply with in order to respect the democratic structures of the country in which it operates.”
The EU expects a transparent process
The EU says it expects a legal, fair and transparent process to resolve the situation, saying it will be “attentive” to the situation in this candidate country.
The European Commission told Euronews that they are in talks with the parties.
