Markus Bindhammer is an author, illustrator and citizen scientist. He has been suffering from bipolar disorder for several years and lately has been forgetting to take his medication more and more often. What does a inventor and engineer do? That’s right, he’s developing a tech device that made it to the Hackaday finals and earned Maker the Assistive Tech Finalist award.

The completely self-developed pill dispenser robot is completely open source and open hardware and has been an integral part of Markus’ everyday life for months now. Only the pills that are taken at exactly the right time make the difference between a bad day and a good day or night when Markus is ill. The robot now takes care of this with its incorruptible watch, the loud voice from the loudspeaker and the correspondingly strict face on the OLED display in the robot’s head.
