This due to technical problems in the Airbus A340 plane that was to transport it from Abu Dhabi.
After taking off the plane had to return, after flying for about two hours to release about 80 tons of kerosene, and thus have a safe landing. The second attempt was also unsuccessful.
“We have tried everything. But unfortunately it is not possible to continue my journey due to a plane failure. This is more than annoying,” wrote the minister, through her account on the X social network, formerly twitter.
The Ministry of Defense has assured that these planes will be withdrawn shortly.
“About the A340s, I can gladly tell you that one is scheduled to end of life in September 2023 and the other by the end of 2024,” said Christina Routsi, a spokeswoman for the German Defense Ministry.
Previous problems with government planes
It is not the first time that a senior German official has been affected by problems with government aircraft, some of them obsolete.
Baerbock herself missed a day in Qatar in May, and in 2018 former Chancellor Angela Merkel was unable to travel on the scheduled plane to the G20 summit in Buenos Aires, so she had to take a commercial plane.
