Firefighters were still battling a fire at a market in the Dominican Republic Monday night.
The deadly explosion occurred in a bakery in the town of San Cristóbal, west of Santo Domingo.

The authorities organized the evacuation of the area, fearing that other buildings would collapse.
The fire spread to a nearby hardware store and furniture store.
It was not immediately clear what caused the explosion, but San Cristóbal mayor José Montas blamed it on the collapse of one of the businesses.
The explosion occurred in an area known as the old market, where crowds of people buy everything from fruit to clothes on a daily basis.
The victims were a four-month-old baby who died from head trauma and two adults whose bodies suffered 90% burns,
Several people were taken to a hospital in the capital, Santo Domingo, including seven patients who had burns on up to 40% of their bodies.
