The avalanche was caused by the detachment of a rocky ridge and, as it passed through the city, it destroyed cars, premises, and ground floors of houses
The rescue teams were able to locate 5 people who had been declared missing.
Firefighters rescued six people who were in a motorhome dragged by water and mud.
A forward command post was created to manage rescue operations involving 50 fire brigades.
The gas supply has also been cut off to prevent explosions, because the damage is severe, and most of the town has been drowned in mud, rocks and debris.
Strong storms in the Czech Republic
And Bohemia, in the Czech Republic, was hit by heavy storms with torrential rain and hail. The Hradec Králové region was particularly affected.
The regional fire brigade received dozens of reports of downed trees blocking roads and flooded homes.
In Nové Bydžov, firefighters pumped water from flooded basements and helped clear clogged sewers.
Meanwhile, in Jaroměř, water entered the dressing rooms of the local theater.
