The popular mayor of Palma, Jaime Martínez, has announced this Monday a plan to reform all the changing rooms of the municipal fields managed by the Municipal Sports Institute (IME) and has shown a willingness to install photovoltaic panels or incorporate covers in the stands.
The call brings together 46 representatives of the user clubs of the fields managed by the IME. All of them have been able to learn “first-hand about the lines of work of the municipal government team”, as well as address the different needs of the clubs. During the meeting, Martínez expressed his commitment to launch different improvement actions and pointed out that “it is time to start getting down to work on all the needs that have been identified and to plan the interventions”.
Likewise, the executive leader of the Palma city council has assured that work is underway to establish an express brigade to fix the damage in all municipal facilities, with the aim that all teams have their own installation.
For his part, the deputy mayor for Sports, Javier Bonet, thanked “the good reception of the meeting with a large number of attendees”, and stressed “the importance of maintaining the new grass on the fields, which will remain covered as of 2024 with an expansion of contracting, as well as the implementation of an express brigade”. Likewise, he has indicated the intention that all the teams have their own space as one of the objectives to “equate the conditions of the clubs.”
As reported by the Palma City Council in a press release on Monday, Martínez, the general secretary of the Balearic Islands Football Federation, Jordi Horrach, the deputy mayor for Sports, Javier Bonet, the general director of Sports, David Salom, and the manager of the IME, Miquel Àngel Bennasar, met this Monday at the headquarters of the Balearic Football Federation with 28 clubs from Palma.
Likewise, the IME will collect all the needs of each club through email before the end of this month of August to study the interventions to be carried out and contemplate them in the next budget.
