A number of expectations are attached to smart cities, such as more efficient transport, easy parking, lower emissions and a more pleasant life. In order to fill the vague term Smart City with life, the federal government has not only published a guide, but is already funding more than 70 cities with amounts in the millions. But the breakthrough is still a long way off: Four years after the first funding, only 14 of the model projects are in the implementation phase.
