Python users can now try the first release candidate for version 3.12, the penultimate preview before the planned release on October 2, 2023. Maintainers of Python projects are encouraged to check them for compatibility. The new features of the forthcoming language version include more flexible f-string parsing, a new debugging/profiling API and improved performance. Based in the incubator of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), Dragonfly version 2.1 has been released. The peer-to-peer system for file distribution and image acceleration brings a breaking change in the new release: the M:N relationship model between scheduler cluster and seed-peer cluster can no longer be used. A development team at Microsoft has the open source Library ONNX Script launched. It is for writing ONNX models directly in Python, with an emphasis on clean Python syntax and idiomatic language constructs. ONNX Script forms the basis for the future PyTorch ONNX Exporter for dealing with the Python-level JIT compiler TorchDynamo for PyTorch. The release of Jetpack WindowManager 1.1 was announced on the Android Developers Blog. The library is used to optimize Android apps for various form factors, including foldables. The new API WindowInfoTracker is ready to use FoldingFeature to query information such as the status “flat” or “half open” on foldable devices. Android 14 is the fifth beta and therefore the last one. Like the two previous beta versions, the release is platform stable. This means that the developer APIs and any app-facing behavior are considered stable and suitable for developers for final review and integration into their apps. Above all, Android 14 will bring many smaller innovations and focus on data protection.
