The UN denies Sánchez’s data on the reduction in the arrival of irregular immigrants

The acting Spanish government chaired by Pedro Sánchez through his Interior Minister, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, has tried to show off its chest by boasting that Spain is the only European state in the Mediterranean that has been able to contain irregular immigration with a reduction of 3.3% in the first seven months of the year.

However, nothing is further from reality. The UN denies the data of the social communist Executive in office because what has increased considerably are the requests for asylum by immigrants who have arrived in our country, so that their irregular situation remains in limbo until the administration resolves their status, which if denied will no longer be counted in the statistics as irregularly arrived immigrants because they are already within the national territory. A statistical trap like that of the labor market, the unemployed and the discontinuous permanent ones.

In fact, asylum applications have increased by 51% up to June this year compared to the same period last year, according to the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR). The total number was 87,106, with 38% of requests coming from Venezuelans allegedly fleeing the repression of the left-wing dictatorship of Nicolás Maduro.

The increase in asylum applications from Colombian citizens is striking, which has gone from 16,020 requests in the first six months of 2022 to almost 29,000 this year. Taking into account that since August of last year the communist leader Gustavo Petro has presided over the country, the legal insecurity generated among his compatriots and the fear of being subjected to persecution for reasons of race, religion, nationality, political opinions, belonging to a certain social group , of gender or sexual orientation under his government, has skyrocketed the number of Colombians who want to flee the country.

Similar situations have occurred in other Ibero-American regimes under leftist governments such as Honduras, the dictatorship of Cuba and Peru (especially after the failed coup d’état by the communist Pedro Castillo). These three countries complete the ranking of the highest number of asylum applications in Spain.

As of today, the acting government of Sánchez has left 154,425 asylum applications unresolved (as of June 30), which represented an increase of 25% compared to the same period of the previous year.

The arrival of boats is triggered

Despite the fact that the Ministry of the Interior has stated that the arrival of irregular immigrants by sea decreased as of July 30 compared to last year, the UN once again denies the department of Grande-Marlaska and ensures that 15,815 people from third countries arrived. an increase of 3%. What’s more, the last week of last month was especially critical with a 68% increase in the arrival of small boats compared to the last week of July 2022 and with another 18% increase compared to the previous week.

Where the increase in the arrival of immigrants has grown considerably is the one known as the Western Mediterranean route that ends on the coasts of Murcia, the Balearic Islands, Almería or the Valencian Community. A total of 7,580 irregular immigrants arrived as of July 30, an increase of 27% compared to the same time in 2022.

Only in the last week of July 666 people arrived, 61% more than they did in 2022.

The arrival of irregulars, on the contrary, in the Canary Islands experienced a setback of only 11% compared to 2022, although 8,555 irregular immigrants still arrived. Only in the last week of July did 313 individuals.
