Separatist leaders of Junts have charged against the Constitutional Court after it has rejected the appeal of the fugitive Carles Puigdemont, a decision that has already been appealed in turn by the State Attorney General’s Office. This movement, which as OKDIARIO reveals this Thursday will end favorably for Puigdemont, may explain the low profile of the criticism that the separatists have made this time.
The general secretary of Junts, Jordi Turull, has reproached the Constitutional Court (TC) for “legally decorating a State strategy against the independence movement.” “This strategy does not close for holidays,” the coup leader lamented this Wednesday.
For her part, the president of the party, Laura Borràs, has assured on the same social network that in Spain there is no separation of powers: “In fact, some are trying to have a synchronization of powers,” she added. «The judicial apparatus acted during the electoral campaign and now it acts thinking about the investiture. They don’t fail. They resolve in record time, in August,” Borràs criticized.
They have said this after the Holiday Chamber of the TC has rejected the amparo appeal filed by the former president of the Generalitat Carles Puigdemont and the former minister Toni Comín against the arrest warrants issued by the Supreme Court for both of them for disobedience and embezzlement.
The Prosecutor’s Office will appeal
The inadmissibility this Wednesday by the Holiday Chamber of the Constitutional Court (TC) of the appeal of the former Catalan president, Carles Puigdemont, against his national arrest warrant, has caused the Prosecutor’s Office to announce that it will appeal this decision, while JxCat has accused this institution of «legally decorating a State strategy against independence».
The Constitutional Court -with the vote in favor of two conservative judges and the vote against of one progressive- has made this decision after considering that no fundamental right is being violated and thus reaffirms the arrest warrant of the Supreme Court, which confirmed the prosecution of the former Catalan president for the crimes of aggravated embezzlement and disobedience in relation to the process, after the crime of sedition was repealed.
