Sortu de Hernani (Gipuzkoa) has published on the networks a photograph of Ekain Ruiz, an ETA member who died along with his commando comrades in Bilbao in 2000 when the bomb they were transporting in their vehicle exploded, along with two carnations and an ikurriña and The image has been accompanied by the following text: «23 years have passed since the death of Hernani’s neighbor Ekain Ruiz as a result of an explosion. His car exploded in the Bolueta neighborhood of Bilbao when he was with Patxi Rementeria, Zigor Aranbarri and Urko Gerrikagoiti ».
“In Euskal Herria, a complete memory”, concludes the publication of the abertzale formation.
Since 1969, 36 ETA members have died while handling explosive devices with which they intended to attack.
Sortu is part of EH Bildu, a priority partner of the Government of Pedro Sánchez, and has the support of the political arm of ETA to revalidate what they call the “coalition of progress”, considering identity and xenophobic movements as progress, the legitimization of terrorism and Catalan separatism.
In July 2016, Sortu began a refoundation process in which the previous leadership was replaced by a new team made up of fifteen militants and headed by Arnaldo Otegi.
Censorship of the Buesa Foundation
The Fernando Buesa Foundation, created in memory of the socialist leader assassinated by ETA, has censored Sortu’s tribute to Ekain Ruiz.
Despite the efforts to launder Pedro Sánchez’s associates, the truth is that the Abertzale left pays homage to both the murderers who are released and ETA members who died when they were preparing to kill.
The Fernando Buesa Foundation has resorted to the same social network to denounce this tribute and ask the members of Sortu: «Is this the empathy that you say you show towards the victims of ETA? Is this your contribution to coexistence?
Publicly supporting and extolling the trajectory of those who decided to kill is an unworthy and unacceptable attitude. It is pure legitimization of terrorism. @sortuEH: Is this the empathy that you say you show towards the victims of ETA? Is this your contribution to coexistence? https://t.co/VMDwtUtz93

In the opinion of this foundation, “publicly supporting and extolling the trajectory of those who decided to assassinate is an unworthy and unacceptable attitude”, because it is “pure legitimization of terrorism”.
The Lehendakari, Iñigo Urkullu, through social networks, has also referred to these events to affirm that “coexistence is not paying homage to people who carried a bomb in a car, even if they died victims of their own explosives.”
