The next portable speaker from Sonos should be on the market in just a few weeks. The US technology portal The Verge wants to have experienced this exclusively. Accordingly, the release date for the Move 2 is planned for the end of September.

Accordingly, the device will have a similar design to the model of the first generation and will still be quite heavy at almost three kilograms. Compared to the first-generation Sonos Move, the audio performance, battery life, connectivity options, charging station and other things have improved significantly, reports The Verge and even publishes a photo of the new model.
Numerous improvements
“The biggest change for listeners is that the Move 2 switches from mono to true stereo thanks to the two angled tweeters, where the original Move only had one,” says the personal audio and home theater specialist Reviewer Chris Welch.
The battery life is therefore significantly improved compared to the original Sonos Move. The new model allows up to 24 hours of uninterrupted playback – up from 10 hours on the first generation of Move. The battery will be swappable again, and the Move 2 has been designed to use less power when idle, which should improve standby endurance. The USB-C port supports line-in audio and can also charge cell phones.
Suitable for indoor and outdoor use
Just like the Sonos Roam 3092300, the Move 2 will be able to play Bluetooth audio through the rest of the Sonos system in the home. The original wasn’t capable of this handy trick because Bluetooth and Wi-Fi couldn’t be used simultaneously, Welch writes. Because the Move 2 is dust and waterproof, and again uses shock-absorbing materials to protect against drops and accidental bumps, it’s also suitable for use outside of your home.
There are also some minor details that have been improved. The wireless charging station has a detachable power supply unit compared to its wired predecessor. The speaker supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0, and has a new switch on the back to disable voice assistant microphones like Amazon Alexa or Sonos Voice Control.

The Move 2 will be available in three colors, according to the report: black, white and a new olive variant. In the US it will cost $449. A confirmation from Sonos is still pending.
