If you solder by hand, you need at least two hands. One to hold the soldering iron and one for the solder. The third or helping hand then holds the printed circuit board to which something is to be soldered. As an alternative, the maker RoboticWorx has now built a device for soldering with one hand. This leaves one hand free to hold the components. As a result, you no longer need to be afraid of moving an element with the soldering iron.

A standard soldering iron is clamped into a special 3D-printed holder. On top of this mount is an ESP32 that controls everything. It is applied to a self-designed PCB with other components such as touch sensors and power supply parts.
With the help of a stepper motor, the solder is dispensed directly to the soldering point at the touch of a button. A serrated wheel unwinds the solder from the spool and pushes it through a thin tube that ends at the tip of the clamped soldering iron.
