iX workshop: IT law for admins – basics, stumbling blocks and practice

Administrators are equipped with extensive powers in companies: They have access to sensitive data, manage user accounts and access rights, licenses and copyrighted material, are responsible for misconfigurations or security gaps, check IT contracts and take active action against attacks, viruses or other threats. In doing so, they have to deal with various legal aspects in order to operate the corporate IT in a legally compliant manner and to minimize possible risks.

In the practice-oriented workshop IT law for admins – basics, stumbling blocks and practice, the lawyer Joerg Heidrich and the technician Christoph Wegener explain how you as an IT specialist deal with specific legal questions in your daily work. You will learn what you as an administrator are legally allowed to do, which limits you have to observe and in which situations you are even subject to legal obligations.

Not only system and network administrators are addressed, but also IT decision-makers and security officers who want to get a well-founded overview of the legal situation with its possibilities and risks.

Legal issues explained using practical examples

In this online workshop, our experienced speakers address specific legal issues that arise in everyday IT life. You have the opportunity to deepen the knowledge imparted through questions and discussions and to bring in your own situations. The number of participants is limited to 20 people, so make sure you secure your place in good time.

The workshop will be conducted by a well-established team consisting of a technician and a lawyer: Dr. Christoph Wegener has been a freelance consultant in the areas of information security, data protection and open source with wecon.it-consulting since 1999. Joerg Heidrich is legal counsel and data protection officer at Heise Medien and also works as a lawyer in Hanover.
