At the end of the round of contacts with the parliamentary groups, the president of the Parliament of Navarra, Unai Hualde, has informed the media that he will propose the socialist María Chivite to preside over the Foral Government.
The president of the Parliament of Navarra, Unai Hualde, has proposed the dates for the investiture plenary session of the socialist María Chivite on August 12 and 13, waiting for the approval of the Board and Board of Spokesmen this Friday.
The Regulations of the Parliament of Navarra set a 72-hour deadline between the round of contacts and the investiture session, but both the President and the Parliamentary Bureau can speed up these deadlines, as Hualde explained to the media at the conclusion of the round of contacts.
Therefore, on Saturday, the 12th, the first investiture plenary session will be held, with debate throughout the day and the first vote will take place in the afternoon. In this, it is expected that the candidate proposed by Hualde, the socialist María Chivite, will not achieve an absolute majority.
In this way, 24 hours after the first vote, that is, on Sunday the 13th in the afternoon, a new vote will be taken. On this occasion, only a simple majority will be necessary, which Chivite is expected to achieve with the abstention of EH Bildu.
Hualde explained that this Friday the Table and Board of Spokespersons will approve these deadlines, although the UPN spokesman, Javier Esparza, has shown his position against bringing the deadlines forward.
The president of the Chamber has shown his “satisfaction” that “a legislature with plural forces that have agreed, despite the differences” is going to start again.
