The cause of death was a blow to the chest.
During the night of July 1-2, during the riots over the death of the teenager Nahel in Nanterre, Mohamed B., 27, a delivery service employee, collapsed on his scooter.
Mohamed died in hospital, where the investigation revealed that he had received a blow to the chest, probably from a rubber bullet, which may have been fired by a police officer with a portable projectile launcher.
Several cases of ongoing police violence
“Today it is indisputable that neither Abdelkarim nor Mohamed committed any damage or violence that could justify these crimes committed by the police against them,” said Mohamed’s wife’s lawyer.
Until now, little information had been released about the death of Mohamed Bendriss, and his case had been dwarfed by that of Hedi. After also being shot in the head with an LBD, the 22-year-old was beaten in Marseille and had to have part of his skull amputated.
A third case, concerning a complaint against police officers, is still under investigation in Marseille: Abdelkarim Y., 22, claims to have been the victim of an LBD fired by police officers on the night of June 30 to June 1. July.
The prosecution has opened a preliminary investigation for “deliberate violence as part of a group resulting in permanent maiming or disability by a person acting in the exercise of his official duties and using a weapon.”
