Found dead in his cell Igor Postolache, the murderer of the girl Erika Yunga in Oviedo

Igor Postolache, who last year murdered 14-year-old Erika Yunga, was found dead this Wednesday in his cell in the Villahierro prison, in the town of Mansilla de las Mulas (León). Early in the morning, the man was found hanged in his cell, the same day he was scheduled to be transferred to a prison in A Coruña, after confirming his sentence, which sentenced him to a reviewable permanent prison, as reported the Government Subdelegation. Postolache, of Moldovan origin, had confessed that he murdered and sexually assaulted the minor in Oviedo last year, and had accepted the Prosecutor’s account that it was a crime “planned, with premeditation, treachery and cruelty.”

It was in April 2022. Just three weeks before the crime, Postolache, who was 31 years old at the time, had moved into the building where Yunga and his family also lived, in the Oviedo neighborhood of Vallobín. The girl’s family is of Ecuadorian origin and had resided in Spain for decades. Yunga was returning from the institute to eat with her family and, according to some neighbors, she was alarmed to see that the minor did not come home, despite having called the intercom from the portal to enter the property. One of her brothers went down to look for her and on her landing he found a trail of blood that led him into a first-floor apartment, where Postolache lived.

After raising the alarm, the National Police agents who arrived at the scene found the minor with several stab wounds, some of them of a defensive nature, and also the perpetrator of the crime, who had to be taken to the hospital for treatment. be treated for the injuries he had caused himself after committing the crime. According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the man studied the entry and exit times of the minor from her home and planned to assault her in the portal of the building where they both resided. He attacked her right there. He then took her to her apartment to sexually assault her, after giving her several more stab wounds that caused the girl’s death.

Last May, Postolache, who had accepted the facts and reached an agreement, was sentenced to permanent reviewable prison for the crime of murder, and to 12 years and six months in jail for sexual assault.

After his arrest, Postolache was admitted to the Villahierro prison, where the suicide prevention protocol was applied for a few months, and he remained in a cell under surveillance 24 hours a day with a trusted prisoner, a protocol that according to sources from Penitentiary Institutions it no longer applied. Prison officials have stated that during his stay in the Leonese prison he hardly made life outside of his cell and did not socialize with the rest of the inmates.
