The popular messenger Whatsapp gets another small feature update. This gives users the opportunity to share their own screen with one or more participants during video calls. The function, previously tested in the beta version, will now be made available to the general public, the Meta company announced on Tuesday.

Now also in landscape format
The new function can be activated via a button. Users can choose whether they want to share the entire screen or just the content of a specific app. In addition, there is now the option for video calls to also send in landscape format. It is not yet known when the new features will be available for which operating systems and in which regions. Such feature updates are usually distributed in stages.
Whatsapp recently introduced video instant messages: voice messages now also with moving images. The video messages are intended to enrich chats, but are limited to a maximum of 60 seconds to protect the respective audience.
Facebook Messenger no longer texts
While parent company Meta is currently diligently retrofitting Whatsapp, Facebook Messenger has had to accept a cut. As of September 28, Messenger on Android will no longer be able to send and receive text messages. Anyone who has previously used the option of using Facebook Messenger as the standard app for SMS must then switch back to another app.
