Security updates: Attackers can target HP and Samsung printers

Important security patches have been released for various HP and Samsung printers. After a successful attack, attackers can gain higher user rights.

The vulnerability (CVE-2023-4894) has a threat level of “high”. If attackers successfully target the gap, they end up with higher user rights. It is not yet clear what an attack could look like in detail. The weak point is said to be an uncontrolled search path element.

Among other things, HP models of the Laser-Jet series and various Samsung models are affected. HP lists the vulnerable printers and the security patches in a warning message.
