Mallorca and Almería are negotiating a Baba-Samú Costa barter, after Vicente Moreno, the new Indálico coach, has personally called the Ghanaian player, with whom he has had a great relationship since his time on the island. The clubs are currently talking, but the most difficult thing is resolving the situation of Baba, whose rights are shared 50% with Leganés, who, logically, will demand half of the transfer.
The African midfielder’s contract ends in 2024 and he is not training according to Javier Aguirre’s plans, who prefers Omar Mascarell for the center midfield position. Something similar happened to him last season when the Argentine Battaglia passed him, which contrasts with the situation he lived in when Vicente Moreno was the coach of Mallorca and he was one of his undisputed starters. Baba is enormously seduced by the idea of meeting again with a technician who is betting on him like this.
In Palma they do not look badly at the operation, which will allow them to obtain an economic benefit on a player whose contract ends in 2024, but the problem is finding a replacement for him and, above all, being able to pay for him. Aguirre will only give the go-ahead when he leaves if they bring him a guarantee replacement. The Mexican agrees with the arrival of the Portuguese Samú Costa, but his valuation in the market is much higher than that of Baba and, in addition, his rights are 100 × 100 from Almería. The fact that what is taken from the African midfielder must be shared 50% with Leganés is what currently prevents the transfer from taking place.
It must not be forgotten either that Mallorca is in full negotiations with Espanyol for the signing of Sergi Darder, for which the Catalans are asking for 10 million euros. The last Balearic proposal has been seven million, but it seems that there could be a meeting point around eight.
