September is fast approaching – and with it an annual ritual: the presentation of new iPhones. Now, for the first time, there are well-founded assumptions as to when the time could come in 2023 – including a possible delivery date.

September 12 or 13, sales start the week after
The Apple blog 9to5Mac started last week, claiming to have heard from various mobile phone partners of Apple that they had imposed a vacation ban for September 13, 2023, a Wednesday, because then a “big smartphone announcement” successes. However, this is easily confusing, since carriers are actually more concerned with the launch of a new product than with its announcement.
Finally, the well-known Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman followed suit. In his weekend newsletter, he writes that he was told that the iPhone 15 event is scheduled for either September 12 (Tuesday) or September 13. Gurman, who has good contacts within Apple’s corporate group, continued to speak of a start of sales “around September 22”, which would be the Friday of the week after the event.
Dates fit – but do all the devices come?
In principle, the date forecast would fit. In 2021 Apple presented the iPhone 13 on September 14th, 2022 the iPhone 14 on September 7th. Only in the Corona year 2020 did Apple switch to October 13 for the iPhone 12. On days, Apple likes to use Tuesday for its keynotes, but sometimes it goes on a Wednesday. If sales start on September 22, Apple would still take a week of iPhone 15 sales this quarter.
However, it is still unclear when the individual models will appear. In the meantime there had been speculation about difficulties in production, which are said to have been resolved in the meantime. Last year, the iPhone 14 Plus was only officially launched in October. The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are expected to integrate a Dynamic Island and USB-C – the integrated SoC should correspond to that of the iPhone 14 Pro A16. According to Gurman, the two Pro models have a titanium display frame that is a third thinner than steel, various camera improvements, a USB-C charging port for the first time and a significantly faster A17 processor in the 3 nm process.
