The IG Metall union is considering legal action against a fake campaign that says the workers’ organization is demanding a conversion of Volkswagen. In a statement distributed on Monday, which allegedly came from IG Metall in Wolfsburg, it was said that employee representatives were demanding, among other things, a gradual socialization of the VW Group and a reorientation of production at the main plant away from cars and towards buses, trains and Rad. For this purpose, a campaign website that seemed deceptively real at first glance was published and quotes from IG Metall officials were invented.

IG Metall suspects climate activists behind the action
The union announced that the fake website probably came from the environment of climate activists. One is always ready to discuss transformation and climate change constructively, but in this case the limits of a creative protest have been exceeded. “We have the events legally examined and reserve the right to take legal action,” said IG Metall in Wolfsburg.
