A Russian bombardment carried out overnight hit what Ukraine says was a corn warehouse in the Khmelnitsky region in the west of the country. This led to a large deployment of firefighters to put out the blaze that ensued.

The Khmelnitsky region, hundreds of kilometers from the front lines in the west of the country, is a regular target of the Russian military because it is home to a major Ukrainian air base.

Zelensky classifies attack as war crime
Zelensky declared that a remote-controlled bomb had hit a blood transfusion center, which he described as a war crime.
In the Kharkov region of Ukraine, two people were killed and four others injured after a Russian airstrike, according to the head of the Local Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov.
Airport suspends flights due to attack on Moscow
Separately, Moscow’s second-biggest airport briefly suspended its flights on Sunday morning after a drone attack was thwarted near the Russian capital.
The drone was destroyed by anti-aircraft defense systems in the Podolsk region, in the suburbs of Moscow, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
Flights were last disrupted at the airport on July 30, when two drones crashed in Moscow’s city business district after being blocked by Russian air defenses.
Wagner leader criticizes Russian Defense Ministry
A video posted on Sunday on a Telegram channel associated with the Wagner mercenary group shows the head of the mercenary group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, speaking about Ukrainian warfare tactics and criticizing the Russian Defense Ministry.
Prigozhin mentions that on August 5, his group was in “full combat readiness.”
Prigozhin also claims that, according to his calculations, the area under the control of the Ukrainian army was more than 100 square kilometers.
He also claimed that the Russian army was not doing enough to resist the Ukrainians. He added that its members were preparing to “fulfill the tasks” assigned to them.
