The Extremadura Forest Fire Fighting Plan (Infoex) has declared level 1 dangerous this afternoon in the forest fire originated in the municipal area of the town of Valencia de Alcántara in Cáceres (5,272 inhabitants) due to its proximity to some isolated buildings .
The fire started at 4:30 p.m. in an area of pasture and scrub, heading to another of ridges and scrub that makes extinction tasks difficult, as reported by the Junta de Extremadura. At the moment, seven ground units, ten aerial means —five of them belonging to Infoex and five to the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (Miteco)—, three agents of the natural environment and two Infoex technicians are operating in the area.
Likewise, support is received in these tasks from the Pinofranqueado Forest Fire Reinforcement Brigade (BRIF) and from three teams of the Special Services for Fire Prevention and Extinction (SEPEI) of the Cáceres Provincial Council for the protection of infrastructures.
Also this Monday, the Andalusian fire service (Infoca) has declared the fire declared last Saturday in the Huerta del Hambre area of Bonares (Huelva) under control, which forced the activation of level 1 of Emergencies due to Forest Fires in the province and to the eviction of around 60 people. As reported by Infoca on Monday, control was decreed at 8:10 p.m., which means that the entire perimeter of the fire is surrounded by a control line, formed by a strip of land without vegetation or with vegetation already burned, although there may be a hot spot inside. For this reason, the troops still deployed in the area work this Monday afternoon on auction and liquidation tasks.
The Generalitat Fire Brigade controlled the Colera and Portbou fire around 10:00 a.m., the most important this summer in Catalonia, which has affected 573 hectares and on Friday night forced some 150 residents to evacuate before the advance of the flames. This fire no longer has flames, although 15 crews have continued working during the day at strategic points in the area to review the affected area.
