Apple is expected to introduce new iPhones in mid-September – and if it stays the same as in previous years, new Apple Watch models will also appear. In 2022, with the Ultra, a second model variant was presented for the first time, things are likely to remain quieter this year with the popular computer watch. Two models are expected again, including the second generation of the Apple Watch Ultra. With the regular Apple Watch, however, relatively little is happening. At least that’s what most rumor mills claim.

Series 9: New color, new SiP
According to Asia, the Series 9 will be a “minor update”. Two main innovations are expected. So there will probably be another color with pink or pink. In addition, the first system-in-a-package change is expected in years. Since the Series 6, Apple has installed a chip based on the A13 Bionic from the iPhone 11. With the Series 9, it should now be a SiP based on the A15 Bionic. This is manufactured in a newer process and was first launched with the iPhone 13. For the Series 9, this promises more performance with less power consumption, faster app launches and more efficient use of background apps.
So far, however, hardly anything has been heard about new sensors. In the Series 8 from 2022, Apple installed even more powerful gyroscopes and acceleration sensors, which can be used to detect accidents. In addition, a temperature sensor was added that can detect changes in body heat. We will probably continue to wait for new health detectors for blood pressure, blood alcohol or blood sugar – the available components are apparently not accurate enough for Apple. The design of the Series 9 should correspond to the Series 8.
Ultra 2: More of the same
With the second Ultra, Apple should also only slightly screw on the optics. A second model is said to be in darker titanium (possibly towards black) instead of the current steel color. That should please people who still have a “Space Black” link bracelet that doesn’t match the current color.
The SiP from the Series 9 is also expected to be installed, which could further speed up the Ultra. In terms of battery life, this is unbeaten compared to the regular Apple Watch anyway, lasting up to three days for some users.
