Geroa Bai presents a counterproposal to the PSN proposal and continues the meeting to reach an agreement

Representatives of PSN, Geroa Bai and Contigo-Zurekin have been meeting since 5:00 p.m. this Monday in the Parliament of Navarra to try to close an agreement that allows the formation of a Government in Navarra.

In said meeting, Geroa Bai has presented a counterproposal and the groups are studying it. According to negotiating sources, the approach presented by Geroa Bai refers to issues related to the programmatic agreement, disagreements between partners and control measures. After more than three hours, they have agreed to a pause to resume negotiations at 9:00 p.m.

The meeting takes place after Geroa Bai has held internal meetings for hours throughout the morning of this Monday to specify his position regarding the latest proposal made by the PSN, a proposal that Contigo-Zurekin has already accepted.

The meeting in the Parliament of Navarra was attended by the PSN Secretary for Organization and parliamentary spokesperson, Ramón Alzórriz, and parliamentarians Ainhoa ​​Unzu and Jorge Aguirre; On behalf of Geroa Bai, its leader, Uxue Barkos, the president of the Legislature, Unai Hualde, and parliamentarians María Solana, Jabi Arakama and Pablo Azcona were present; and on behalf of Contigo-Zurekin, its parliamentary spokesperson, Begoña Alfaro (Podemos), parliamentarian Carlos Guzmán (IUN), and Batzarre member Íñigo Rudi.

Thus, Geroa Bai will transfer this afternoon to PSN and Contigo Nafarroa, with whom he has been negotiating for weeks, the conclusions of the internal meeting that he held this morning. The members of the Abertzale coalition have analyzed this morning the latest proposal for the formation of a tripartite government that would be presided over by the socialist María Chivite.

PSN’s proposal would offer Geroa Bai four councils, with one for Contigo Navarra and the presidency of the Foral Government and seven more departments for the Socialists.

After various disagreements in recent weeks with the PSN, Geroa Bai has left the answer about his participation until today, just two weeks before the end of the term on August 28 to have a president of Navarra already invested.

If that date is reached without investiture, the regional elections should be repeated.
