The torrential rains that fell today in different parts of Spain –especially in the Valencian Community and the regions of the center of the peninsula– have caused floods, rescues, falling branches and the collapse of walls, although there have been no serious incidents to regret.
The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has kept a yellow alert, in addition to the Valencian Community, those of Madrid, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León and Extremadura due to the presence of strong storms, and Andalusia and Galicia due to coastal phenomena. , reports Efe, while the forecast for tomorrow reduces the alert in Castilla-La Mancha but transfers it to the Region of Murcia.

One of the most complicated episodes of rain has been experienced in the province of Castellón, which has pulverized its pluviometric records, making this month of May the rainiest since records exist in the area, above the wettest up to now. Thus, in the capital Castellón, the rainfall that fell for a few hours in the early hours of this Friday left more water than in any other month of May, and in some neighborhoods more than 171 liters per square meter have fallen and have forced the Local Police and to the Prevention and Rescue Service to carry out more than a hundred services.

Another especially affected town has been Molina de Segura, in the Region of Murcia, where around 100 liters per square meter have fallen in an hour, which has caused fifteen rescues in homes and vehicles, in addition to the closure of numerous flooded roads. , the collapse of part of a wall of the municipal cemetery and damage to crops, as confirmed by its mayor, Eliseo García.
The Murcian government has announced that it will ask the mill to declare the area of the Molina de Segura field affected by hail and torrential rain a catastrophic area, so that residents can access aid and tax benefits after the condition of some 4,000 hectares with Very varied damage, especially indicated in fruit and citrus trees, which will not be able to be harvested.
In the Community of Madrid, the most affected areas were Alto del León, Alpedrete, the port of Navacerrada, Colmenar, Valdemorillo and Torrelodones and, in addition to the rain, the Aemet measured wind gusts of up to 109 kilometers per hour in areas such as The Pinilla.
In Aragon, the municipal officials of Pomar de Cinca (Huesca) are assessing the damage caused by the flooding of the Clamor ravine, a channel that crosses the town and which, after overflowing, flooded several houses and some of the infrastructure of this town. The local authorities lamented what they consider an “announced disaster” due to the lack of cleaning work in the ravine, which, they recalled, is the responsibility of the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation.
During the weekend there will be abundant clouds, rains, showers and locally strong or persistent storms, with temperatures that will gradually rise, according to Aemet. The showers will again be intense except in the Ebro valley and the northeast, as well as in the Balearic Islands.
