The ‘Carousel Deportivo’ program of Cadena SER will launch ‘Goles against intolerance’, an initiative as part of its campaign ‘Without respect there is no game’, to change the traditional goal whistle, an element with 70 years of history , for another whistle with a message against violence and discrimination in football.
With this action, the SER seeks to highlight the “urgent need to combat racism, homophobia, machismo and other forms of violence in football,” as reported by the chain in a statement.
The sound change will take place during the broadcast next Saturday at Carrusel Deportivo in the matches of the 37th day of the First Division and the 42nd and last of the Second.
Throughout the day, the chain will promote a reflection on the fight against intolerance in football. The program will pay special attention to social networks to follow the public’s reaction and encourage discussion around this cause.
Cadena SER relaunched its ‘Without respect there is no game’ campaign on January 31 with a special on the program ‘El Larguero’, led by Manu Carreño. During this special, the worrying escalation of violence and hate crimes in football was addressed with the participation of different experts and opinion leaders in the field of sport.
The ‘Without respect there is no game’ campaign, created in 2017, seeks to inform and raise awareness about the fight against racism, discrimination and violence in football. The initiative was launched with the support of UNESCO and since its creation it has fostered social awareness and the fight against these problems in the field of sports.
The new action ‘Goals against intolerance’ will seek to focus and combat racism, homophobia, machismo and violence in football. “Because if in football the goals speak, now, those of Carrusel Deportivo will do it against these acts of intolerance”, says the SER.
With this action, the chain encourages all football fans and the general public to join this fight against intolerance in sport. “Because in football and in life, without respect, there is no game,” he concludes.
