A total of 828,129 citizens of the Balearic Islands will be able to exercise their right to vote in the next regional elections on May 28of which 32,273 will be able to do it for the first time because they have reached the age of majority since the last electoral call held on May 26, 2019.
As reported this Friday by the Minister of the Presidency, Public Function and Equality, Mercedes Garrido, The voting period will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and he recalled that the final result will not be known until June 2, when the votes by mail are also counted.
As for the citizens with the right to vote for the different Balearic Councils, there will be a total of 788,608 people and, by island, there will be 647,641 Mallorcans, 74,582 Menorcans, 98,726 Ibizans and 7,180 Formenteras.
For the celebration of the elections there will be installed 1,247 polling stations, 32 more than in the last elections of 2019, distributed among 381 polling stations, four fewer than in the past elections, and a total of 3,733 ballot boxes and 1,071 polling booths. The entire electoral process will have a total cost of 1.62 million euros.
Regarding the candidacies, there will be 12 candidacies for the constituency of Mallorca, nine for Ibiza, seven for Menorca and four for Formentera. On the other hand, there have been 11 candidacies for the elections to the Mallorca Council, eight to the Ibiza Council, seven to Menorca and six to Formentera.
Specifically, they will be elected 59 deputies that will make up the Balearic Parliament33 councilors who will form the Council of Mallorca, 13 who will form the Council of Ibiza, 13 the Council of Menorca and 11 the Council of Formentera.
In order for all Balearic residents to be able to exercise their right to vote this Sunday, 15.72 million ballots have been made and 18,408 instruction manuals for polling station members have been published.
The administration will have 741 representatives, half of whom will be in charge of transmitting to the data center the results of the scrutiny of each polling station, and citizens will be able to consult the results in real time on the website resultatseleccions2023.caib.es.
To the 1.62 million euros that the administration has allocated to the electoral process, we must add another 694,775 euros that have been allocated to the parties that are running for election. These aids have already been distributed to the political groups so that they can carry out their campaign, but they are subject to the electoral results, so at the end of the elections some parties must return part of the amount, reports Europa Press.
For the retransmission of participation results, the Government will hold three press conferences throughout the daywhich can also be followed online, the first at 2:30 p.m., the second at 6:30 p.m. and the last one from 9:00 p.m.
With respect to voting by mail, which the 32,439 Balearic residents abroad will be able to exercise, as a novelty this year, citizens have been able to download the electoral ballots electronically, so they could opt for the usual ballot or to print the downloadable one themselves.
Finally, Garrido has reported that 19 people have requested the specific electoral kit for people with disabilities.
