The PP has placed a giant shopping cart in the Plaza de España in Madrid to “denounce exorbitant rise in prices of food suffered by citizens. Next to the cart they have placed a purchase ticket that includes the increases in recent years in different products. The popular blame the government for Pedro Sanchez of the increase in prices, either “by action or omission” and have turned the PSOE campaign slogan (“Vote what you think”) to warn against voting for socialist candidates: “Think what you vote for”.
This shopping cart has been presented by the general coordinator of the PP, Elias Bendodoand the economic spokesperson for the formation, john bravo. «This is one of the main problems that the Spanish have. The Government of Sánchez has turned the slope of January in a slope every month of the year. The shopping basket has risen these months without the Government of Pedro Sánchez having done anything to help the Spanish. It is not enough to justify oneself in the war in Ukraine,” Bendodo denounced.
The leader of the PP has recalled that his formation proposed in September 2022 “to lower the VAT on meat, fish, preserves, and other basic products; and even today, the Government continues without lowering the VAT on these products. He has also asked the President of the Government to “clarify the Spanish” if the reduction in VAT on some products, which he lowered at the request of the PP and which is in force today, “He is going to eliminate it on June 30 or he is going to extend it”.
«The shopping basket in Spain, since Pedro Sánchez governs, it has shot up above 20%. With Pedro Sánchez, the shopping cart is impossible to fill. Products such as sugar have risen around 50% more and pottitos around 23%. Prices were already going up before the war in Ukraine, therefore it is not worth hiding behind that”, Elías Bendodo has maintained.
For his part, Juan Bravo recalled that the PP has been asking for months for the “continued non-increase in taxes” that the Executive of Pedro Sánchez is doing. He has also denounced “the loss of net income of the Spanish of 5.1% with the Government of Sánchez”, for which “purchasing power is lower and the difficulties to make the purchase are greater.
The economic spokesman for the PP has indicated that the policy to follow is the one carried out by the Communities governed by the PP, which have made a “tax cut and a deflation of the IRFF to compensate the net income of the citizens.”
Bravo has urged the Sánchez Executive to extend the VAT reduction, not only to the “limited basket”, but to other foods such as meat, fish and preserves and a deflation of personal income tax.
“We live badly”
The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has charged Pedro Sánchez for having “refused” to deflate the personal income tax rate for incomes of less than 40,000 euros, lower VAT on meat, fish and preserves, and create a fund with banks to alleviate the rise in taxes. mortgages as proposed by his party. Feijóo has criticized that the Government raises taxes and “benefits” from the increase in the cost of living by collecting “3 billion more each month32,000 million more a year ».
«It is very easy to govern like this. The government lives very well and the people live very badly. There is a huge problem with prices, and it is that everything is worth more and we pay more for the same thing”, Feijóo assured in an act with the PP candidate for the Presidency of the Government of Aragon, Jorge Azcón, and the candidate for mayor of the city, Natalia Chueca, next to Plaza Ciudadanía de Zaragoza.
