Anyone who sometimes makes a mistake with the WhatsApp messenger service or sends a text too quickly – without having checked messages again for typos – will soon no longer have to worry. Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg has announced via Facebook that WhatsApp is rolling out a message editing feature. But be careful: According to the WhatsApp blog, the option is only available up to 15 minutes after sending the message.

If you want to correct or add errors, you have to click longer on a message that has already been sent and select the edit function in the menu. As with other messengers, the messages are then displayed as “processed”. This lets the recipients know that the message has been edited. The changes are also end-to-end encrypted.
function is yet to come
The function should be available worldwide in the coming weeks. WhatsApp recently announced a feature that allows individual chats to be “locked” and unlocked with a fingerprint, Face ID, or password, for example.
