Projecte Home Baleares served 1,880 people in 2021 -without taking family members into account-, which represents an increase of 26.3% compared to the previous year (1,488), also exceeding the user figures for 2019, the pre-pandemic year, when served 1,669 people.
According to the entity’s 2021 Annual Report, presented this Thursday by the executive president of Projecte Home Baleares, Jesús Mullor, at the organization’s headquarters, this growth is due, on the one hand, to the recovery from the impact of Covid-19 and, on the other, because last year the facilities in Inca, Manacor, Menorca and Ibiza were transformed into comprehensive centres.
In this sense, the average number of people in treatment per day stood at 691.2 in 2021, while in 2020 it was 577.6 and in 2019, 541.6.
On the other hand, Projecte Home Baleares has highlighted the increase in women attended last year by the entity, because “more and more are taking the step”. Thus, 22% were women and 78% men.
The organization has also highlighted the increase in addictions without substances or behavioral addictions, such as video games, face-to-face or online betting, the Internet or social networks, among others.
Within this group, it stands out that almost 45% of the users served are under 20 years of age and 85.8% are men, according to the Europa Press agency.
