Next July, Iberia will incorporate into its workforce the top 20 drivers after the pandemic, to meet the capacity increase that the airline has scheduled for the peak summer months. It is expected that, after these pilots, another 20 more will join from October, all of them from the Flight Training Europe school in Jerez.
“The incorporation of new pilots to Iberia is very good news, the best sign that we are flying towards recovery. In addition, our collaboration with the FTEJerez through the Iberia Cadetes program guarantees that we are counting on the professionals with the best skills for the future of Iberia”, Rafael Jimenez-HoyosDirector of Production of Iberia.
The technical crew members who will join next month are the first of the Iberia Cadets program, which the airline launched in July 2019 and had seen their entry into Iberia postponed due to the pandemic.
In addition, the airline has reopened the call to enroll in Iberia Cadetes, its Training program and training of new pilots with financing, which the company launched in 2019 in order to have the best qualified professionals in the sector.
Iberia Cadetes is a program to also promote the pilot profession among young people, helping them to finance their training in very advantageous conditions so that they can develop their vocation.
Once they have completed their studies, Iberia’s commitment is to facilitate the incorporation of these cadets into the labor market through the Iberia Group airlines so that in this way they can also begin to return Iberia’s contribution to their studies.
Óscar Sordo, CEO of FTEJerez, comments that “FTEJerez is proud that Iberia continues to trust us to train its next generation of pilots and it is one more example of the recovery of the sector after the pandemic. This new call is undoubtedly a recognition of the success of the Iberia Cadets program and reinforces the relationship we have had with the airline since we started working together in 2017”.
FTEJerez has been the first school to participate in the Iberia Cadetes de Iberia program. The two companies jointly select the candidates to join to a training program that will allow them to obtain the ATPL air transport license, and which has been financed 50% and without interest by Iberia. The airline also participates in the training of these students, evaluating their progress and performance
